This is the first project initiated by the association. The aim is to provide accurate and independent scientific advice to assist the Congress in passing informed science-related legislation and to alert congressmen to science issues of importance to Peru. The approach chosen to formalise the support of the scientific community to the Peruvian Congress is to create a group registered within the Congress which will act as an equivalent to a congressional science office. The group is to be composed of congressmen (to identify planned legislation that will require scientific information) and voluntary scientists who draft policy notes and animate information seminars.
The project is being developed by Dr. David Wahl (APS member) and Dr. Oswaldo Luizar (congressman for Cuzco).
